Free Ronald McDonald Socks (and maybe some Batman Squeezy Cheese Fries) for donating #forRMHC

Last week McDonald's Singapore invited me to learn a bit more about the Ronald McDonald House Charity in preparation for the Show Your Stripes campaign.   Throughout the rest of October and November McDonald's Singapore is going to be running a series of events to help raise awareness about the foundation.  They also made a $10 donation on my behalf which meant I was able to get a sexy pair of Ronald McDonald socks. My giant size 14 feet were never going to fit inside, so my wife had to do the honours.

RMHC's around the world do accept donations directly through their individual websites, but I believe you can only get these socks by donating through the official McDonald's Singapore Donation Groupon, and then going personally to the Groupon store in Singapore to pick them up.

What I would like to do is this, if you make a donation to RMHC Singapore, forward your confirmation email to me at [email protected] and I'll personally go to pick up the socks on your behalf, and send them to wherever you are in the world (completely on my dime). Donations start $10SGD ($8USD), but are also available in $20SGD ($16USD) and $50SGD ($40USD) increments.

To sweeten the pot, if you also happen to be one of the 10 largest donators, I'll also send you a Batman Squeezy Cheesy Fries sauce (with Bacon Flavor Bits) from Hong Kong.  I reviewed these from Japan earlier this year.  If you aren't interested in the fries or know your country customs department will have an issue with sending cheese, just let me know in your email and I'll try and go through the vault of other sauces and shakers I have lying around.

If you want to donate to one of your local RMHC's that's perfectly fine as well, just send me your confirmation, and I'll make sure you are entered.

Again, the donation link is here.  Feel free to reach out to me via email or Twitter if you have any questions or problems completing the donation on the Singapore Groupon site (we can work something out through PayPal).  Below is more information on the great charity you'll be supporting!

Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC) Singapore is an independently administered charity incepted in 1989 on a simple mission - to directly improve the health and well-being of children in Singapore. In January 2013, the charity started a Ronald McDonald HouseTM (RMH) with the support of National University Hospital (NUH) Paediatric Department to provide a  "home-away-from-home" for families to stay close to their hospitalised child.

In the past, RMHC Singapore has helped more than 900 needy children in Singapore with their medical, surgical and rehabilitative treatment cost amounting to over S$5 million in grants.

In 2014, RMHC Singapore has also committed S$379,000 in its Grant Programme where funding is provided to support projects presented by various public hospitals and non-profit/voluntary welfare organisations that align with their mission of creating, finding, and supporting programmes that directly improve the health and well-being of children and their families.

RMHC Singapore is currently at the planning stages of a Ronald McDonald Family Room at NUH to cater to families whose children are receiving treatment in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.  RMHC Singapore funds its operations through the support of donations from the general public and well-wishers in Singapore through various fundraisers and the collection from RMHC Singapore donation boxes that are placed at all McDonald’s restaurants nationwide. Being one of the major corporate mission partners of the charity, McDonald’s also contributes 5 cents from every sale of its Happy Meals to the charity.
